Public Property Is Accounted For
Arms and accoutrements are issued to individual Soldiers, inspected while in service, maintained, returned, and preserved upon the Quartermaster's books.
Why Join the 17th?
The Adjutant keeps the rolls, the Quartermaster accounts for public property, the School of Instruction records the progress of the men, and the chain of command carries official business to the proper desk.
Arms and accoutrements are issued to individual Soldiers, inspected while in service, maintained, returned, and preserved upon the Quartermaster's books.
Requests, absences, appointments, and personnel matters are carried through the non-commissioned officers and Headquarters and entered with their disposition.
Schools, rifle and revolver qualifications, scores, classifications, and requalification dates are entered as part of the Soldier's service.
Instruction, qualifications, musters, conduct, and leadership may all be examined when a Soldier is considered for greater responsibility.
Recommendations, citations, decorations, and Company honors are preserved with the personnel records rather than forgotten after the occasion has passed.
When the Regiment assembles for drill or takes the field, the muster becomes part of the continuing record of the men and Companies present for duty.
Once You Enlist
Only an abstract is posted for public inspection. The full personnel books and working desks of Headquarters are opened only to those whose duties require them.
Enlist, take your place upon the rolls, and receive your private personnel record from Headquarters.
